What is Chiropractic?

A system of complementary medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of misalignments of the joints, especially those of the spinal column, which are held to cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments, the theory being that proper alignment of the body’s musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication.

Is a chiropractic adjustment safe?

A chiropractic adjustment is safe when it’s performed by someone trained and licensed to deliver chiropractic care.

What is that popping sound I sometimes hear when I get an adjustment?

When a joint is gapped or stretched during a chiropractic adjustment, a small air pocket forms temporarily inside the joint. Just like the pressure difference in a Snapple bottle when you first take the lid off, this creates a popping sound. Nothing is damaged.

How often do I have to see a chiropractor?

Each patient’s needs are unique. Many of our patients have no set schedule and simply call when they feel that they need a checkup. Others prefer to see their Doctor each month; its up to the patient.
